La Autoridad de Recursos Acuáticos de Panamá realizó el decomiso de 76.93 libras de cambute o strombus en un restaurante del corregimiento de Pedregal, distrito de David.
El director provincial de la ARAP, Elmer Romero informó que la acción se originó por una denuncia anónima hecha en la institución, indicándoles que en el menú de este restaurante, el mencionado molusco aparece como uno de los platos a la venta.
El valor monetario del cambute decomisado asciende a los 700 dólares, acota Romero; mientras que recuerda a los dueños de restaurantes que el período de veda está vigente, por lo cual pueden ser multados con montos de B/.1000 hasta B/.10, 000 dólares; en tanto, quien bucea el cambute puede ser sancionado por B/.100 a B/.1000 dólares.
La veda del cambute tiene una duración de 5 años en el mercado a partir de la aprobación del Decreto Ejecutivo 098 del 2009.
